The "Noble Savage"

A chalkware bust c 1910. Sculptures like this were created for those folks who had the taste but couldn't afford a "real" sculpture.

A Septarian Nodule

Septarian nodules are sometimes confused with fossils since they can have a surface that appears to be reptilian scales or egg shell. I found this 2" example on Gonzales Beach in Victoria BC.

Beachcomber Park, Nanoose Bay

I waited a year to take this photo. It was taken at Beachcomber Park, Nanoose Bay BC Canada (just outside of Parksville). I had to wait for a clear sky, moonless evening, very low tide (this glacial erratic is normally under water) and when nightfall is not too late at night and it's not too cold. I lit the boulder with a dollar store flashlight. I had company with the sounds of seals constantly barking as they swam past.
